Champs-Élysées, Paris: The US 28th Division chosen to
represent the US on the Victory Parade August 29th 1944
Welcome
I and my partner Hanna have
been interested and taking part in WW2 re-enactment and military vehicle
meetings
since the 1990's. We have explored many battle sites abroad but as with most
interests have now focused our attention on one group, the US 28th
Division who's extraordinary engagements in Europe including the Hurtgen
Forrest, and the Ardennes have not received the recognition that other units
gained during WW2 simply because the press corps were placed
elsewhere.
This is not to minimise the contributions others made, however this division
appears again and again in areas of Europe we are particularly interested in. So
much so that we discovered they liberated (quite unknown to us at the time) the
small villages between St Vire and Villedieu in Calvados, namely Sourdeval,
Gathemo and its associated forest where we had recently purchased a property.
This website is dedicated to the US 28th Division
who fought to preserve our freedom
